The Basic Driver Improvement Course(BDI)
This course has been designed to be done online, and typically runs about four hours long. Our content is both engaging and entertaining, complete with realistic scenarios and easy-to-read sections. Some of the things that you will be learning include driving regulations, basic defensive driving, and how drugs and alcohol can impact your ability to control a vehicle. You will also learn who the vulnerable road users are, how to maintain a car, and an overview of unique driving conditions.
You are free to complete this course at your own pace, on your own time. If you need to sign out for any reason, you will resume where you left off the next time you log in. That said, you need to pass the final examination with a minimum score of 80% to pass. Thankfully you have unlimited attempts to retake the exam at no additional cost.
Once completed, we will automatically notify the Florida DHSMV on your behalf. You will then be able to download and print your certificate of completion for your records.
Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE)
This course is designed to help you understand the effects and impact of drug and alcohol abuse on drivers. In addition, we will also teach you the laws and responsibilities that road users have and how to increase awareness on the road, along with basic safe driving techniques.
Upon completion, you will fulfill one of the requirements for acquiring a learners permit in Florida. Our Traffic Law and Substance Abuse course offers one of the most convenient ways to earn your learner's permit, right from home.
DHSMV Online Permit Exam
The DHSMV online permit exam is required to receive your learner's permit in the state of Florida. The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice and true/false questions, of which you will need to get at least 40 correct to pass. This exam is timed for 60 minutes and should be completed in one sitting.
The DHSMV requires that you pass the exam within the three attempts given. If you fail to pass within the attempts provided, you will have to retake the exam in person at the Broward County DHSMV.
TLSAE Course and Online Permit Exam Combo
As both courses are required for you to obtain the learner's permit or your first-time driver's license, this helpful and convenient combination can save you time and money!
Once you've completed them, you'll be able to download and print your certificates. We'll even notify the DHSMV for you! This is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to obtain your permit in Florida.
8-Hour Traffic School (Intermediate Driver Improvement)
In the event where you receive more than two citations within 12 months and do not qualify for the 4-hour BDI course, you may have to take the 8-hour defensive driving course. This could also happen if you are court-ordered by a judge to do so.
This course is to be completed within a specific time-frame provided by the court. However, you are allowed to complete it at your convenience within the time-frame provided. You can pick up wherever you left off whenever you sign back.
Once finished, you will be able to download and print your certificate of completion. You can have a signed and sealed copy sent over to you upon request. However, it is important to note that the Florida DHSMV will NOT be notified of your completion with this course.
Florida Driving Records
DriveSafeToday provides comprehensive 3-year, 7-year, and even complete 11-year driving records. These are obtained from the database used by insurance companies, other law enforcement agencies, and the DHSMV.
